Noor Dubai prevents blindness

12 Nov, 2008 - H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler and UAE Minister of Finance said that the initiative lead by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai is a charitable initiative for the prevention and treatment of blindness and low vision which aims to deliver preventive eye care to over 1 million people as part of its drive to realize its vision of a world free from curable forms of blindness.

In his Highness name, Minister of Health Hamid Al Qattami said while opening the UAE conference for ophthalmology that the UAE is keen on setting a strategy to build a healthy society on the basis of comprehensive criteria meant to provide medical services on international standards. Dr Manal Taryam, a consultant ophthalmologist and head of the Noor Dubai medical team, praised his highness' role and added that more than 600 patients from all over the Arab countries were treated since the launch of the campaign.
